Jennifer Garner Set To Join 'Fantastic Four' Cast As A Female Silver Surfer

Following the recent official cast unveiling of the upcoming 'Fantastic Four' movie, the excitement gathered amongst comic book movie fans has very quickly spiralled out of control.

In February of 2024, it was announced that Pedro Pascal would be taking on the iconic role of Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will play his counterpart Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn will portray Johnny Storm a.k.a The Human Torch and 'The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach will take on the role of playing 'The Thing'.

Although there has been wide variation in response to this announcement from the comic-book loving public, the clarity provided on the future of the movie has put audience's minds at rest, giving us all the more reason to get excited for the upcoming project.

Not only have we received official casting for Marvel's most famous family of superheroes, but it is now heavily rumoured that Julia Garner is set to provide an on-screen representation of a female version of 'The Silver Surfer'.

The last time the Silver Surfer was represented in a live-action production was back in 2007 via Tim Story's 'Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer', in which the character was portrayed by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne. Back then the character was primarily known to be of male genetics.

For those of you unaware of the newly cast Silver Surfer, Garner is mostly known for her contribution to television rather than film. The actress recently won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 71st Emmy Awards for her work in 'Ozark' and was also nominated in 2022 for her portrayal of Anna Delvey in Netflix's 'Inventing Anna'.

Regardless of her recent feats within the television industry, Garner's casting as a female Silver Surfer in the upcoming 'Fantastic Four' movie is destined to cause some uproar amongst die-hard MCU fans. After all, the character is primarily known as a male character, so Garner as well as the creative directors behind the production are bound to receive some backlash from this casting.
